Mariana Pereira Carvalho

as an immigrant born in Brazil and living in the U.S. for the past eight years, my work explores the marks that detachment, whether through divorce or immigration, can leave in a woman seeking to build her identity throughout life. In my writing, I hope to create poems about family dynamics, belonging, multiculturalism, and the complexities of being a woman of color in a formerly colonized country who seeks to understand the endless nature of immigration and the diaspora.
